THU 6:00 PM: How My Art Saved My Sanity! (45 mins.)

Room: ONYX (Lincoln, Upper) Rated: Everyone

Produced By: TokuTruck

A short presentation followed by an open discussion with audience members. One of the issues for neurodivergent people is that we often feel things very deeply but aren't able to express it in words. Sometimes you can't find the words, other times it seems like too much effort, and this can result in isolation and even depression. But art is a good way to get those feelings out into the open! Maybe you can't talk about it, but you can make a picture or a sculpture! Creativity and art are not limited to fine arts. Con goers are a creative community, designing costumes and writing fan fiction, as well as developing games and crafting products for sale. Many of us are also neurodivergent. ATTA will share several stories from members about how our art impacts our mental health, followed by feedback and questions from the audience.

Speaking: Allison Leonard Rappaport; KeLaine Kvale; Liam Rumpel

Category: Discussion; Social
